Apologies for not updating for awhile – we’ve been very busy with getting things ready for Historicon, updating the convention ships to use more modern player aid and weapon charts and getting all the main rules finalized in time for our games is taking up most of our efforts.
On top of that, we’re in crunch mode to help get Fireball Forward finished and ready for release at the convention, which has contributed to making things pretty crazy for us for the last month or so, and that will likely continue up until mid-July when the convention takes place. I’ll post more updates if I can, but they’ll likely be brief.
If you’re planning on going to Historicon, let me know – we’d love to say hi.
Historicon is coming up! We’re working on getting the new damage system good and playtested prior to that happening so we can use that in the convention games.
We’re going to be running two Silent Fury games at Historicon. Both games are at 7 PM on Friday and Saturday.
The first game is F-219 – Roid Rage. It’s a free-for-all where you’re mining asteroids while trying to fend off other players, with a few surprises thrown in. We’ve had great success with this one at past conventions, and it’s quickly becoming one of our staple convention scenarios (not least because the asteroids look great on the table).
The second game is S-220 – There Will Be Blood. This is simply the scenario we currently have on the site, as written – we’re hoping that lots of carnage and effectively simplified rules (since the ships don’t have shields or warp drives) will make it a good convention game, but it’ll be our first time running it as such, so we’ll see.
If you’re planning on attending Historicon, we’d love to have you join us, or at least stop by the table, check us out and say hello.
Outside of running the Silent Fury games I’m going to be helping my friend Mark Fastoso with the release of his Fireball Forward World War II ruleset (also definitely worth checking out!), and we have a room set aside for running games for it so you can find me there during most of the convention. I’m slated to run S-399 – Panthers on the Prowl, at noon Saturday, but I’ll be floating around the Fireball room and either running the demo table or helping the other GMs with their games when I’m not running my own.
In a bit of a sad note, Nathan’s reserve training week falls directly on the convention, so he can’t be attending this one. That’s the way it goes, but it’ll be a bit harder, since in all our previous conventions I’ve had him around to help set up and run games, and it’s likely far easier to handle a full table with two GMs rather than one.
