We’ve been hard at work this month, and assuming we make our publishing deadline this is the last playtester kit we’re planning on releasing to our playtesters and patreon supporters before we send the game off to the publisher at the beginning of August, and it’s packed to the gills with content.
First off, all fifty ships in the game are in PDF form and ready to go.
The scenario book is complete with all 10 planned scenarios written, though some haven’t been thoroughly playtested.
The ship / faction book has 3 out of the 5 factions complete, and the 4th is being worked on and may or may not be finished at release time.
The rulebook has undergone a major reorganization to give the rules a more ‘natural’ flow – previously all rules were ordered by their location in the turn sequence, but now they’ve been grouped more by topic – for instance, all rules concerning how ships move are now together in the same section, even though thrusting takes place in the action phase and Drifting takes place in the Drift phase. The rulebook itself still requires diagrams and more proofreading.
As we enter the home stretch of of development, we still have a lot of work to do but it’s probably less than we’ve already conquered. Nathan needs to burn the midnight oil on rules diagrams and a quick start guide, I need to finish the ship book, and both we and our playtesters need to hit the last four scenarios hard.
And then it all needs finishing touches – I’m planning on writing an index in the rulebook and adding a numbering system for rules, and I need to proofread all my examples and ships to try to make them as error free as possible. It’s going to be a busy month, but I think we can still make this deadline.
The release is scheduled for the 1st of July – I have no idea what we’ll do next month if we make the release date, but we’ll think of something!
