I’m in the process of revising the rules, and as part of that I’m cutting down on the number of scenarios in Silent Fury Academy. The primary reason for doing so is specifically that Sabotage and Dante Syndrome were balanced and tested on the old version of the damage system, and I’ve realized that every time I change the damage system I need to go back and revise and re-test those scenarios. Rather than do that every time I make changes, I’ve decided to remove them for now. I think that most people who do try out Silent Fury won’t really need the iterative approach of programmed rules, so I don’t think that skipping a step or two in the learning process is going to be all that challenging for you guys. The first scenario is now Mutiny, so you can get right into a crew melee with a friend.
All the rest of the scenarios and ships for them will be obsolete when I update the rules, and will need to be updated. I’m going to be discussing things with Nathan, but the fewer scenarios we have, the less overall work we need to do every time we publish an updated iteration of the rules, so we may consider cutting more so that we spend less time on busywork. Even with small changes, it often means that every sheet we have out there needs updating (if it’s something in the player aid charts for instance, or a revision to the weapon chart style), so the less time we spend on that sort of thing, the more time we can spend working on the main game system. That said, we do want to maintain a representative set of scenarios for people to play the game on, so several of them are here to stay – certainly Cruiser Attack and There Will Be Blood aren’t going on the backburner anytime soon.
