Item the first – I’ve decided to remove the forum from the site. It wasn’t getting a lot of visitors or discussion, and had become a cesspool of spam posters that was using more and more of my time to manage and clean. Most of the actual discussions I’ve taken part in have taken place in other gaming forums, and the effort vs. the reward of maintaining a separate one here just wasn’t worth it.
Second item – we may have good warp mechanics now. Nathan and I did a brief playtest that went extremely well, and we’ll have a full on game on Monday. If this works, it will be the last system that I felt needed changing before we call this a finished product – if that goes well and runs successfully at the next convention, we’ll move on to cleanup and final playtesting, and perhaps look at making tweaks here and there, but we’re definitely in the home stretch. The timing is good – I’m going to have a new daughter in a few months, and it would be nice to have the rules finished by the time that happens.
What happens after that? Nathan and I still haven’t decided. We think it’s a great game system, so we’re going to show it to publishers, but while we’re doing that I plan on leaving it available here on the internet for anyone interested to use, and we’ll have the final version of the cards put up on the Gamecrafter at that point. If it gets published, awesome. If not, no biggie – we made the game that we wanted to make, and it’s something we’ll be able to play for the rest of our lives.
We’ll be at Cold Wars. If you’re coming, we’d love to have you at the table.
